THE STONEWELL STORY
The Stonewell Restaurant is a genuine family business founded in 1989 by Head Chef and co-owner Stelios Koutouvides, and his wife Niki. Stelios and Niki acquired their cooking skills from their mothers, both of whom were excellent cooks themselves. Stelios also with a great talent in art, always decorated his restaurants with original paintings.
In keeping with the family tradition, Niki and Stelios have been joined in the restaurant over the years by their sons Ari, Daki, and Niko, who worked as bus-boys and waiters.
The three boys have now gone on to their own careers, Ari in the financial district in New York, Daki an electrical engineer, and Niko a professional football player for the Seattle Seahawks for four years; one year with Denver Broncos, and now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Also working with Niki and Stelios in the restaurant are two of Niki’s sisters, Stamo and Loukia and, over the years, nieces, nephews and a number of extended family members.
Stelios and Niki began their restaurant careers when they opened Max Pizza in Bristol in 1976. Next they opened the White Birch Inn on the Bristol / Southington line next to ESPN. And, eventually, the Stonewell.
Chef Stelios always strives for the freshest ingredients from his home made soups and appetizers to his U.S.D.A certified Angus beef; fresh fish, and vegetables from premium growers.
In addition to lunch served daily and fine dinners nightly, The Stonewell also presents a wonderful all you can eat Sunday Brunch featuring omelets specially made by Chef Stelios, Belgium Waffles with whipped cream, and a number of additional items listed separately on the Brunch page of the menu.
On Friday and Saturday night throughout the year the Stonewell features karaoke, hosted by Carol Willis, and presenting some of the best singers in the state.
The Stonewell also accommodates private parties with three dining rooms seating 40, 60 and 90 people respectively, or for special occasions, up to 190 people in total.
It is always our pleasure to serve you. We hope you continue to enjoy each of your visits to the Stonewell.
